Pakistan v India - 2nd Test 2016 - Faisalabad - Match Preview

With Wahab Riaz injured, and the pitch fast paced, Pakistan chose their 3 remaining fit Fast bowlers, giving a suprise recall to the much maligned Mohammad Sami.
Ifitkhar Ahmed was the other change, coming in at number 7 in the allrounder role in place of Mohammad Nawaz to strengthen the batting but provide spin support for Hafeez and Yasir.
After scores of 0,0,0 and 4 in the tour matches, and little of note with the ball, Iftikhar's inclusion was another suprise.
India made a few changes, replacing the injured Rahane with Rohit Sharma at number 5, replacing out of form opener Dhawan with Rahul, and bringing in Jayant Yadav for a debut in place of Mishra.
With the wicket fast paced, they also made a desperate call to back to India on the eve of the match to Varun Aaron, feeling they needed his genuine Fast bowling on this pitch, and flying him in the night before the game started.
He will open the bowling with Kumar, with India again starting favourites for this match, with Pakistan again weakened by injury.
Losing Wahab seemed a major blow for the home side on this pitch, with it ideally suited to his type of bowling.

Pakistan v India - 1st Test 2016 - Peshawar
Pitch: 80
Toss: India
This match was a good contest for the first 2 days, but India pulled ahead on an improving pitch, amassing a big second innings score, to set Pakistan what would have been a world record run chase.
Good bowling by the Indian spinners saw Pakistan slump to defeat.
Rahat bowled well early in India's first innings, bowling 3 batsmen in an inspired spell, and with Yasir and Hafeez backing him up, India were all out shortly after Tea for 209.
Babar Azam scored 89 for Pakistan in reply, but good swing bowling by Kumar with 6 wickets restricted the home team to a 51 run lead.
Pujara set things up in the 2nd innings, though the others also found run scoring easy on a pitch that flattened out and was best for batting on Day 3.
Jadeja took 6 wickets to send Pakistan to defeat, but Man of the Match was Pujara, for top scoring in both Indian innings, his 2nd innings century putting the visitors in control.

Pakistan v India - 1st Test 2016 - Peshawar
India had little trouble in amassing a huge score in their second innings, setting Pakistan a world record chase of 502 in a little over 5 sessions.
Pujara lead the way with a hundred, while Rahane returned to form and most of the others found run scoring easy.
Pakistan bowled poorly, especially to the tail, and the thought it might be a long series for them is setting in.

Pakistan never really got on top in their reply though they did have the satisfaction of taking a 51 run 1st innings lead.
Babar Azam lead the way with a patient 89, perhaps revealing himself as the future of Pakistani batting when experienced pair Misbah and Younis retire.
Bhuveshnar Kumar bowled superbly on a pitch offering him nothing, his swing making him dangerous even when pitch conditions were against him.
Kumar finished with 6 wickets to keep India firmly in the game, and with the pitch flattening out they will have hopes of a better 2nd innings effort.

Toss: India
India won the toss, and though the pitch would be best for batting on Day 2 and probably early Day 3, elected to bat first, knowing the pitch would be very difficult to chase on on the final day.
None of the batsmen grabbed the opportunity, as first Rahat, and later the spinners worked their way through the order.
Rahat yorked Dhawan, bowled Vijay with an inswinger, then yorked Kohli, to claim 3 wickets in an excellent opening spell.
Yasir Shah kept the pressure on with 3 wickets of his own, before Hafeez ran through the tail to see India all out for 209.
Pujara top scored with 37 as none of the Indian batsmen reached 50, leaving Pakistan on top late on Day 1.

Pakistan named a makeshift lineup because of injury, with Babar Azam coming in at number 3 to make his debut in place of Asad Shafiq, and allrounder Mohammad Nawaz as a like for like replacement for left arm spinner Zulfiqar Babar.
With the reserve openers form unimpressive in the tour matches Azhar Ali moves up to open.
Ehsan Adil is probably the major surprise, named ahead of a few others for his ability to find swing, something that might prove valuable when the pitch flattens out.
India named a predictable lineup, with Rahane retaining his place despite a pair in the tour match, and Mishra making the side in place of a 6th batsman.
India appear favourites judging by their bowlers form on tour so far, but experienced batsmen Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq should ensure a tight contest.

Pakistan Board XI v India - 4 day First Class match 2016 - India 2nd Innings
Pakistan Board XI v India - 4 day First Class match 2016 - Gaddafi Stadium Lahore
Half centuries to Suresh Raina and keeper Ojha enabled India to declare and set the Pakistan Board XI 444 to win in roughly 5 sessions.
Rahat Ali and Ehsan Adil provided a couple of breakthroughs with the new ball, giving the home side some brief joy early in in the innings before the middle order pair cruised to their milestones.
With the Indian bowling form on tour so far it seemed the home side had very little chance from here and it would be only a matter of time before the visitors recorded their 2nd win of the tour.

Pakistan Board XI v India - 4 day First Class match 2016 - Gaddafi Stadium Lahore
The Pakistan Board XI batted poorly in their reply to India's 424/7, being all out for 165, a massive 259 runs behind.
Babar Azam made 49, but continued the trend of home batsmen getting starts and getting out without reaching 50 which has plagued them so far during the tour.
Ashwin bowled superbly to take 5-38, but Kohli declined to enforce the follow on, electing to bat again to let the pitch wear some more before the Board XI are forced to bat again.

Pakistan Board XI v India - 4 day First Class match 2016 - India 1st Innings
Pakistan Board XI v India - 4 day First Class match 2016 - Gaddafi Stadium Lahore
Toss: India
India won the toss and elected to bat first on a Normal wicket expected to favour spin late in the match.
A big hundred to Murali Vijay was the highlight of their 424/7 declared, and half centuries to Kohli, Raina, and Ashwin also made it hard work for the bowlers.
Vijay was unlucky to be out in the 190's after hitting 22 fours and a 6 in 6 hours of excellent batting.
The Board XI bowlers struggled after a decent start, with Sohail Khan probably the best of them.

Pakistan Board President's XI v India - 4 day First Class match 2016 - National Stadium Karachi
Pitch: 7A - Fast paced wicket, then at Lunch on Day 2 :5 - Normal
Weather: 3 - Sunny, some cloud
Most of the Indian team struggled in their second innings with the notable exception of Pujara, who held the innings together with a century after his first innings duck.
Dhawan and Rohit also made starts, meaning most of the Indian team had gained something from the match already, regardless of the result.
Junaid Khan took 4-50 in a strong effort, no doubt keen to show his Test career is not over an unimpressive performance in his last Test mid 2015.
Despite the home side bowling much better, the Indians still managed to set home side 389 runs to win in roughly a day and a half.

Pakistan Board President's XI v India - 4 day First Class match 2016 - India 1st Innings
Pakistan Board President's XI v India - 4 day First Class match 2016 - National Stadium Karachi
Pitch: 7A - Faced paced wicket
Weather: 2 - Hot and Sunny then Day 2: 3 - Sunny, some cloud
India lost a couple of early wickets before Lokesh Rahul blazed his way to a 84 at better than a run a ball to have the visitors on top at Lunch.
Though no one else played with the same freedom, Jadeja made a half century and starts from some of the others saw India post 304 in their 1st innings about half an hour after Tea.
Zulfiqar Babar ran through the lower order and tail to take 4 wickets, though it was Nawaz and Junaid who had impressed most early in the innings with the ball.
The home side would have felt they were in the game at this point, having taken 10 wickets in less than a day on a pitch offering the Fast bowlers assistance.

Pakistan Board President's XI v India - 4 day First Class match 2016 - Karachi - Match Preview
Pitch: 60 - A fast paced wicket, especially on the first day and that will please the quickies. The batsmen will appreciate the ball coming quickly onto the bat too, so this should be a good game of cricket. Later in the match the pitch may quieten down a bit but the bounce will always be lively and there is a possibility that the spinners, especially wrist spinners will also get into the act on the final day.

Pakistan Board President's XI features a number players in contention for the Test series, and this is an important game for them to show their skills.
India are not full strength, having left out Ashwin and Rahane, though the team looks strong it should be an interesting game.
With the pitch set to heavily favour spin late in the match it becomes an important toss.

India will tour Pakistan for a 6 Test series in May/June 2016.
The full tour schedule is as follows:
4 day match v Pakistan Board President's XI at Lahore
4 day match v Pakistan Board XI at Karachi
1st Test at Peshawar
2nd Test at Faisalabad
3rd Test at Multan
4th Test at Karachi
5th Test at Rawalpindi
6th Test at Lahore
Pakistan Pitches 1999 and onwards:
Batting can be difficult at PESHAWAR with its low-bounce early on and help for the spinners later. FAISALABAD wickets are often fast but true, and some big totals have been posted there. At MULTAN batting can be easy on pitches that offer no assistance to the bowlers, or very difficult when a spinners' wicket is prepared, or when the seamers get helpful conditions early on. At the National Stadium in KARACHI the pitch is often lively on the first day but thereafter that batting becomes easier until late in the match when the spinners get some help from the wicket. Batting first at RAWALPINDI can be unhealthy, for the pitch can be lively and with an uneven bounce on the first day before settling down to favour the batsmen. At LAHORE there are plenty of runs to be had from slow-paced pitches although early on there can be some help for the quickies.

Pakistan themselves are always capable of beating anyone anywhere, so this promises to be an exciting series.

West Indies President's XI v Pakistan - 50 over List A match 1998/9 - Match Report
West Indies President's XI v Pakistan - 50 over List A match 1998/9 - Guyana
Pitch: 6A - Hard pitch with excessive bounce
Weather: 5 - Hot and sunny
Toss: West Indies President's XI
Sent in on a lively pitch, the Pakistan openers got them off to a good start, before Inzamam took over and scored a brilliant run a ball century.
With most of the batsmen making runs at a good rate, Pakistan piled on 327/4 off their 50 overs, making light of the pitch conditions.
Apart from Mais, the bowlers struggled to contain the scoring, bowling far too many bad balls.
Half centuries to Arthurton and Ryan Hinds at least allowed West Indies President's XI to bat their overs out in reply, but they were never in the game, and Pakistan won by 111 runs.
Mushtaq Ahmed bowled well for the visitors to claim 4 wickets, but it was all too easy for Pakistan and he will bowl better for less reward on other days.
Pakistan won by 111 runs
